To quench a bleeding sea
To fight and maim and kill and die

To suffer for a deep belief
Endure indignity
To bleed and writhe with no relief

To mock a tyrant to his face
Defend Thermopile
I’ll offer sword and shield and soul
To make but one man free

For Sparta stood up to a god
Refused to bend the knee
And so, by God, I’ll give my life
To make but one man free!

Figured I should add this to the growing works of the Inquisitorial Knights / Heretics compilation. So what if it don't fit as well as I wish?!

The second I saw the word Sparta I knew this was about 300... That was a good movie.

I never saw the movie [because i'm a loser] but this poem is awesome.

I like how the repetition adds to the meaning of the poem. The rhyme scheme works really well, and conveys the power in the poem very well [even though the third stanza doesn't quite follow the same scheme as the other three]
